DESCRIPTION: The Councillorship for Culture of the Municipality of Quiliano, in collaboration with SACS and the Public
Library A.Aonzo, has developed a new and particular project of mail art, with the theme “Visual Pages”,
dedicated to the artist’s book.
The most important feature of mail art is communication, the search for a dialogue and try to reach “harmony
with the outside world, friendship with other people, understanding of their humanity, acceptance
of the world and a deep gratitude to the entire universe…”, quoting the words of the Belgian philosopher
and mail artist Guy Bleus.
255 artists coming from 33 different countries have joined this project, for a total amount of 313 artworks,
that were realised with different materials and shapes, as it normally happens in mail art operations, where
no constraint is imposed on the free interpretation of the artist.
As you can see by looking at the catalogue, some artworks keep their traditional shape of book, others
remember it with its details, others interpret its essence.
SACS reserved a section of mail art to digital images, that take part in a virtual street art project, in which
the entire territory of the Municipality is involved.
Street art, or “culture of the street”, can be defined as an artistic expression that takes shape in public
spaces using different techniques: spray, sticker, stencil, video projections, sculptures, and so on.
SACS made it virtual, with the intent to actualize it and help people understand it, approaching the art,
even if not easy to read (like net art), to a wider and more heterogeneous audience.
Images will be made available to all through an e-book, so that you will be able to flip through its pages,
even if only virtually, like a book.

Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday: 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
